In aerospace high performance is non-negotiable; 3M Polyurethane Protective Tape 8657DL is our flame retardant, wide-area protective tape for wet-area corrosion prevention areas such as aircraft lavatories and galleys. Our tough, flame retardant tape creates a “bathtub effect” that helps establish an effective barrier against fluids and is resistant to abrasion, scratching and punctures.
Exceptionally Tough Tape with Burn Resistance
In order to meet tough aerospace and regulatory requirements, we make 3M Polyurethane Protective Tape 8657DL from an exceptionally tough, thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer that resists puncture, tearing and abrasion. Our tape is uniquely formulated to pass the burn resistance requirements of FAR 25.853* when tested alone or as a covering applied to floor panels.
When applied over aircraft floor panels and adjoining walls, 8657DL creates an ideal barrier against most fluids and helps prevent liquids from causing corrosion to the floor. 8657DL incorporates a specially formulated pressure sensitive adhesive and conformable backing for fast and easy application. Using 3M Polyurethane Protective Tape 8657DL on floor panels can help reduce corrosion and costly replacement of stringer beams – and keep your aircraft flying. This product is supplied with a dual liner. The bottom 3 mil polyethylene liner protects the adhesive from contamination prior to application. The top liner is imprinted with black lines at four inch intervals aids in precise installation.
