RS Pro Unterminated IEC C13 Power Cord

From RS Pro a high quality and durable power cable assembly or power cord for connecting an appliance to a mains power supply. This power cord is terminated on one end with an IEC C13 type connector that connects to the appliance. The other end of this power lead is unterminated and can be terminated to a plug when convenient. The power lead features an integrated strain relief that provides additional protection and support to the connector and prevents damage caused by excessive bending

What is a power cable assembly?

Power cable assemblies are electrical cables that are pre-terminated with a plug or socket connector. Power cable assemblies can be terminated with connectors on both ends of the cable, or just one. Depending on the application, there are various types to suit a wide range of requirements.

What is an IEC C13 connector?

This power cord is terminated with a fully moulded IEC C13 plug which is used to connect the cable to an appliance which has an IEC C14 inlet. C13 and C14 connectors have 3 pins, a rated current of 10 A and a maximum temperature rating of 70°C, and is sometimes referred to as ’cold connectors’. IEC connectors conform to IEC-60320 specifications laid down by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) to ensure the connector meets common global design standards

Features and Benefits

• Flexible and durable cable with PVC insulation and sheath
• Fully moulded IEC C13 connector for strength and durability
• Reliable integrated strain relief for connection support and protection
• Unterminated for flexibility and convenience when installing appliances

What is This Cable Assembly Used With?

IEC C13 power cords or IEC leads are for use with IEC Class I appliances and are mainly used in computer equipment but can also be used in some domestic and commercial appliances. Typical applications include the following:

• Personal Computers and hard drives
• Test equipment
• Power distribution devices
• Server and network equipment
• Instrumentation amplifiers
• IT equipment

IEC and International Leads

A range of electrical appliance connecting leads, the majority of which are terminated with connectors that conform to IEC 60320. The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) is the international standards and conformity assessment body. The drawing illustrates the range of connector types offered within this section - The 'odd' 'C' numbers refer to a socket type connector - mains input - and the 'even' 'C' numbers refer to a plug type connector - the appliance inlet.
