With a hardened chrome vanadium steel construction, the spiral fluted extractors are suitable for turning and retrieving many types of fasteners and studs of medium tensile strength. The screw extractors can be used with a tap wrench to be securely forced into pre-drilled problem screws, and then easily turned. Where cheap or old screws have been used, it is not uncommon for the heads to become worn or broken, making them unsuitable for removal by conventional screwdrivers. By drilling into the screw head, and inserting these screw extractors with careful force, the screw can be extracted in the usual way without having to wrench or dig. Though somewhat resistant to corrosion, it is a good idea to store your screw extractors in a dry place to further their work life. As such, it is recommended to store the tools in their supplied case when not in use.
