L-Shaped TORX® Drivers

From RS PRO, this L-shaped Torx key set is ready to go for almost any Torx screw application. With duel ends supplying conventional Torx heads on one end of the key and tamper-proof Torx at the other, the set is ideal for both common and specialist applications. TORX is a type of screw head with a six-point star intrusion, designed to ensure even more torque can be applied for ease and precision when tightening and loosening. They are often used in mechanical production, for example. The tamper-proof Torx screw is ideal for when added security is needed, as it cannot be undone by conventional tools.

Each of these torx keys is constructed from chrome vanadium steel, for a long and dependable work life. They are supplied in a handy plastic holder to make sure your tools are kept safe and organized when on the go.

Applications

An L-shaped Torx key can have an advantage over a screwdriver as its shape allows you to apply more leverage. As such, a Torx key might be more suitable for heavy-duty application than a typical Torx driver. Tamperproof torx screws are ideal for panels and machine housing that might need to be regularly maintained but are kept in places where they might be subject to interference.

What are the advantages of TORX head screws?

TORX screws, sometimes known as Star screws, are a simple and efficient solution to many drive problems. It has the advantages of virtually eliminating ’contact point stresses’, ’shearing’ and excessive ’end load’ requirements on the driver. By reducing the risk of 'cam out' there is less chance of damage to the screw, and less wear and tear on the driver. A such, TORX is often regarded as a higher quality alternative to slotted, Phillips and hexagon head types.
